Elizabeth Ann Harrington was born on July 15, 1927, at home, in Windom, MN. She was the daughter of Lammert and Lucy (Fest) Langland. She was baptized at St. Francis Xavier church. She attended Elementary, Junior High and High school in Windom. Following graduation in 1945 she attended the MN School of Business in Minneapolis until she was employed by Cottonwood County Agriculture, as a secretary in Windom. On February 10, 1947, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Curtis Harrington. The ceremony took place at St. Francis Xavier in Windom. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Harrington lived in Holloway, MN until the fall of 1948 at which time they moved to a farm in rural Comfrey. In the spring of 1953, they moved to a farm near Storden, where they lived and farmed until 1987. In 1987 they moved to a house on 19th Street in Windom. Elizabeth later resided at Mikkelsen Manor, Remick Ridge, and most recently at the Fountains at Hosanna in Lakeville. Betty farmed with Curt, while raising their nine children, on the family farm near Storden. She began working outside of the home when her children were all in school in 1971. She worked as a receptionist/secretary at Peterson-Klassen dentistry and Cottonwood County Social Services in Windom until 1984, when she retired. Betty enjoyed many activities including volunteering at St. Francis Xavier Church where she was active in the guild, choir, teaching children, cantering, and reading. She loved to sing and enjoyed theatre and musical events. Betty was active in Bible studies, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and a volunteer quilting group. She enjoyed baking, cooking, traveling, bird watching and gardening. Her flower gardens were admired by many and she won several awards at the local fair for her baking. Over the past 10 years Betty enjoyed independent and assisted living, with the support and numerous visits from her children and extended family. She recently moved to Lakeville, MN to be closer to family. She resided there through her 94th birthday and transitioned into her Eternal Home on July 22, 2021. Besides her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her sister Lorraine Hockel, brother Robert Langland, husband Curtis Harrington, son Michael Harrington, daughters Cathy Prins, Mary Thompson, and Kristin Soderman, and three grandchildren Josiah Harrington, Jennifer Prins, and Jacob Soderman. She is survived by her children: Jeanette Harrington of Iowa City, Stephen (Ann) Harrington of Duluth, Betsy Morse of Riceville, Karen (Bob) Owen of Forest Lake, and Teresa (Paul) Grothe of Lakeville, daughter-in-law Darelyn Harrington of rural Storden, and sons-in-law Malon Thompson, and Terry Soderman of West Valley City, UT. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
