Elmer W. Buller was born on February 10, 1928, in Mountain Lake, MN to the late Margaret and Diedrich Buller. On February 10, 1948, Elmer married Rubie Peters at the Gospel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake on his 20th birthday. The wedding day was chosen so Elmer only had to remember one important date. The couple raised four energetic boys in Mountain Lake and enjoyed supporting their sports events, cheering from the stands. Elmer spent many volunteer hours at the Gospel Mennonite Church bringing homebound members to church and helping out in any way asked. He loved assisting with various jobs to help church members in their homes. Always a practical joker, Elmer would carry a small hand-made trinket in his pocket that would make people laugh. His "exercise blocks" and "chicken dinners" live in drawers from coast to coast. Elmer was a jack of all trades holding various jobs, working for Balzer Manufacturing, Ben Adrian's Turkey Farm, and The Good Samaritan Home. He was easily identified by his red coveralls wherever he went. One of his favorite jobs was delivering milk for Oak Grove dairy where his boys were known to help their dad and learn the names of all the customers. The other red uniform for Elmer was the Santa Suit he wore for many Christmases, often with Rubie as Mrs. Claus. Rubie and Elmer enjoyed their final years in assisted living at Good Samaritan. After Rubie passed in 2018, Elmer continued in their apartment. Following a brief time on Hospice, he passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021. Elmer is survived by one brother, Wilmer (Darlene) Buller of Mt. Lake, his four sons, David (Linda) Buller of Mt. Lake, Walt (Cindy) Buller of International Falls, Richard (Jean Ann) Buller of Minneapolis, Larry Buller of Mankato, many grandchildren and equal numbers of great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial funds may be directed to the family and will benefit the Mennonite Central Committee Disaster Relief Fund.
