A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Ethelyn Cuperus, 89 of Burnsville, formerly of Lakefield, will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with a time of visitation and gathering from 10:00 AM ~ 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Rost Township, rural Lakefield.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations in memory of Ethelyn are preferred to the American Cancer Society.

Ethelyn Arlois (Strom) Cuperus, daughter of Carl and Evelyn (Oelke) Strom was born, January 18, 1936, on her parent's farm in Belmont Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. She was baptized at home and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at

Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lakefield, MN.

Ethelyn grew up on the family farm and graduated from Lakefield High School in 1954. She attended Mankato State University and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Fulda, MN, Lakefield, MN and Daleville, Alabama. She continued substitute teaching until retirement.

Ethelyn was united in marriage to Loren Cuperus on August 10, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lakefield. They made their home and farmed in Rost Township, Jackson County, except for the two years while Loren served in the U. S. Army. At that time, they lived in Fort Rucker, Alabama.

Ethelyn was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rost Township. She taught Sunday School and was active in L.W.M.L. both local and zone, a member of the Rost Project Group and Jackson County Home Council, a member of the Auxiliary of the Rural Letter Carriers and served as Memorial Chairperson of the Jackson County Cancer Society. She also enjoyed being a Field Editor for Country Magazine. She passed away the morning of February 21, 2025 at the age of 89.

Surviving is one daughter, Deanne and her husband Darvin of Eagan MN. They have one son, Andrew and his wife Liz and their son August of Bloomington, MN. She also has one son, Robert and wife Nancy of Hilton Head Island, SC. They have two children, Eleanor and Thomas. Eleanor has a son named Christopher.

Ethelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; her parents and two sisters: Althea and Carolee.
