Eugene "Gene" Engler, age 83, of Windom, passed away on January 26th at the Pineview Assisted Living in Windom, MN. Eugene Elmo Engler was born on February 26, 1938, to Elder and Mildred (Kuehl) Engler, at the Slayton Hospital. During his childhood, Gene's family lived in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Rosehill Lutheran Church. He attended District 56 Country School and Westbrook High School, graduating with the class of 1956. Gene married Joan Sell on September 2, 1962, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. Gene & Joan moved to Windom in 1962. He worked as an outside truck driver at the Toro Company in Windom for 40 years. He was the F.O.E. District President and Local Trustee. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, boating and water skiing with the family on weekends. Gene is survived by his brother, Arlo (Marlene) Engler of Windom, MN; his nieces and nephews; and many friends and Evie King. Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Joan; an infant son, Bruce Eugene; and his parents, Elder & Mildred Engler. Blessed be the memory of Eugene "Gene" Engler.
