Eugene "Gene" Arlow Stene was born on April 26, 1931, to the late Eldor and Alma (Miller) Stene in Brandon, Minnesota. He attended high school in Brandon. After high school, Gene enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954, and served in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged and returned to Brandon, MN.
On August 10, 1958, Gene was united in marriage to Janice Bell Glidden. Together the couple raised six children. Gene was a longtime member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. He passed away on July 20, 2022, at his home in rural Alpha, after a tough battle with cancer.
Gene is survived by four sons, Jody (Reenie) Stene, Joey (Bonnie) Stene, Jay (Andrea) Stene and Jed Stene; one daughter, Julie (Todd) Moller; 15 grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Truda, Elsa, Crystal, Carolyn, Cody, Amber, Erik, Ole, Gunther, Autumn, Forrest, Willow, Lilly, Matthew and Andrew; 15 great-grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene is reunited in Heaven, with his wife, Janice; daughter, Patty Elizabeth Stene; and his parents.
