Obituary

A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Eva Krueger age 74 of St. James will be held Friday, July 26th at 11:00AM at the Mountain Lake Alliance Church in Mt. Lake with Pastor Jeremy Oakland officiating. A private, family burial will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Friday, July 26th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Mountain Lake Alliance Church in Mt. Lake.

A time of fellowship and light refreshments will follow the Celebration of Life Service at The Den in Mountain Lake. Everyone is invited.

Eva Louise Krueger was born on March 29, 1950, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to the late Robert and Margaret (Haley) Borseth. She received her early education at Winfair Elementary School in Windom and graduated from Windom High School in the Class of 1968. Eva then furthered her education at Larson's School of Hairstyling and later Horizon Dental Assisting.

On August 31, 1969, Eva was united in marriage to Kent Smith. In her early years, Eva was a manager/merchandising assistant at JCPenney and met her life-long, best friend, forever, Carol Yocum. They were friends for 46 years. She then was employed at Coldwater Creek. Eva loved retail.

On November 23, 1991, Eva was united in marriage to Vic Krueger. They made their home in Windom where Eva worked with Vic at Krueger's Body Shop in Windom. In 2002, they moved to Brentwood, California. While in California, Eva volunteered with a teacher. His name was Juan Martinez. They worked together for 11 of the 13 years that she lived there. It was one of the best things she had ever done. She helped with 5th grade, 2nd grade and finally 3rd grade, which ended up being her favorite grade level. In 2014, Eva and Vic moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and in 2022, moved to St. James, Minnesota after Victor retired.

Eva loved to read and would read every night and sometimes into the morning. Her favorite book she ever read was "To Kill a Mockingbird".

Recently, Eva had been diagnosed with cancer and entered hospice care in her home in St. James. She passed away there peacefully, with her family at her side, on Friday, July 19. 2024.

Left to cherish her life and legacy is her husband of thirty-two years, Victor Krueger of St. James; four children, Scott (Connie) Smith of St. James, Travis (Jamie) Smith of Mt. Lake, Keith Krueger of Chaska, Leah (Jered) Krueger Broesder of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 8 grandchildren, Caitlyn, Zoey, Daniel, Landon, Khya, Ivy, Madisen, and Kurgan; two brothers and one sister, David (Marilyn) Borseth of Jamestown, ND, Dan (Beth) Borseth of Aitkin, Teresa (Brad) Borseth Bussell of Conway, AR; sister-in-law, Patricia (Lowell) Heibult of Sibley, IA; 7 nieces; 5 nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Roberta "Bobbi" Mullins.
