Garner Fredrick Paulson was born on November 6, 1936, to the late Garfield and Olive (Gillie) Paulson in Jackson County, Minnesota. He was baptized into the Christian faith on December 13, 1936, at Hauge's Lutheran Church. He began his education attending Petersburg and Christiania public schools and later graduated from Jackson High School with the class of 1954. After graduation, Garner began his lifelong career in farming. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and then returned to life as a farmer working with his father, brothers, and later his son and grandson.
On April 25, 1965, Garner was united in marriage to Norma Dierks at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fulda, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Garen, Todd, and Jennifer.
Garner's greatest joys in life came from spending time with his family, especially following his grandchildren's events, traveling with his brothers and sisters, and weekly coffee with family and friends.
He was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, serving the church in many ways. Garner also served on the Board of Directors for the Windom Co-op Association. He spent his summers playing fast pitch softball with his friends from Bergen. In the fall, he reaped the fruits of his labors including juicy, delicious honey-crisp apples from his homegrown orchard. Garner cared for the land, the animals, and his family. He retired in 2020 at the age of 83.
Garner Paulson passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, at The Good Samaritan Society in Jackson, Minnesota.
Garner will forever be remember by his loving wife of 58 years, Norma Paulson of Jackson; three children, Garen (Kim) Paulson of Jackson, Todd (Lisa) Paulson of Minneapolis, Jennifer (Chad) Gage of Eagan; six grandchildren, Andrew (Rachel) Paulson, Zachary (MacKenzie) Paulson, Kaden Gage, Ty Gage, Vivienne Paulson, and Tate Gage; siblings, Carol (Lowell) Hansen, Janet (Wayne) Hunter, Curtis (Myra) Paulson, David Paulson, Dianne (Wally) McDaniel, Doug Paulson, Paul (Betty) Dorn, Darlene Kretschmar, Steve (Rebecca) Dierks; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bergen Brotherhood Ballpark, any multiple sclerosis charity, or Bethany Lutheran Church of Bergen.
