Garold "Mac" Gene McRunnel was born on August 5, 1940, in Bingham Lake, Minnesota to Edward and Viola (Cossins) McRunnel. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Windom, Minnesota. He received his education from Windom Public Schools and attended some college courses at Worthington Community College.
On October 17, 1959, Mac was united in marriage to Marie B.J. Gunder at the Evangelical Free Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with five children, Susan, Terry, Robyn, Steven, and Heidi. After their marriage, Mac and Marie lived in Windom. Mac worked for Southern Minnesota Supply where he delivered parts, Fingerhut in Gaylord, Minnesota, for Arnold Sogge making tile and for Toro Manufacturing for over thirty-two years. Mac moved into the Good Samaritan Society - The Village in Mountain Lake, Minnesota in January of 2010 and lived there until passing away on Sunday morning, December 1, 2013 at the age of 73.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Windom where he was very active. He was involved with AWANA Clubs for thirty-five years, child evangelism for twenty-five years, trustee, deacon, Sunday school teacher and the church custodian for many years. He enjoyed baking, especially cookies, camping and traveling. He will be remembered for his jokes and stories and loved to laugh and tease his kids.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Marie McRunnel of Mountain Lake; five children, Susan (Bill) Larson of Mountain Lake; Terry (Candice Rivero) McRunnel of Phoenix, AZ; Robyn (Tony Langer) McRunnel of Cannon Falls; Steven (Kim Fransway) McRunnel of Lakeland; and Heidi McRunnel of Belleville, TX; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Heidi) McRunnel of Highland, CA and Virgil McRunnel of Lakeville; one sister, Lois (Fay) Seemann of Bloomington; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Doug McRunnel and LeRoy McRunnel.
