Gary “Gabby” Lee Lusk was born on September 7, 1956, to James and Aldean (Shover) Lusk in Jackson, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Gabby attended Jackson High School and graduated with the Class of 1974.
After graduation, Gabby began farming—a way of life that was truly in his blood. He loved the land, the work, and the people he met along the way.
Gabby met his best friend and the love of his life, Susan Wieskus, and the two were united in marriage on August 12, 1993. Together, they were blessed with two sons, Derrik and Cole, joining the daughter, Shawn, and son, A.J., whom Gabby already had. Gabby treasured his family and especially enjoyed spending holidays together, where there was always plenty of visiting, storytelling, and laughter.
Gabby was a friend to everyone. He could strike up a conversation with just about anybody—even if he couldn't quite remember your name! No matter where he went, whether it was the Feed Mill, John Deere, Casey's, or anywhere else around town, Gabby was sure to find someone to talk to.
Gabby had a lifelong love of sports and racing. He enjoyed sprint car racing and was an avid Minnesota sports fan. He was honored as Sportsman of the Year at Jackson Speedway, Fairmont Raceway, and Huset’s Speedway all in the same season. Gabby was also inducted into the Jackson Racing Hall of Fame in 2014. He was also a member of 4-H and lifelong supporter.
Those who knew Gabby will remember his ever-present smile, his kindness, and his genuine ability to make people feel welcome. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making a simple conversation memorable. His warm personality and love for people will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Gabby passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center in Jackson.
Gabby is survived by his loving wife, Susan of Jackson; children, Shawn (Peder) Lunde of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, A.J.
