Gary Wayne Soleta, 67, was born on June 20, 1953 in Windom, Minnesota to Lester and Rosella (Rocker) Soleta. He was baptized and later confirmed at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom where he was a lifetime member. He received his education in Windom Public Schools and graduated from Windom High School in 1971.
Gary enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a tugboat operator while in the service. He was proud of his service and of being a veteran. After the service, he returned to Windom, where he was employed by Kaiser-Estech Fertilizer, Kruse Paving and Poet Biorefining, before his health forced him to retire. On June 24, 1991 Gary was united in marriage to Tamara Anderson. The marriage was later dissolved.
Gary loved to garden, watch and feed the birds, watch and read westerns. His greatest love was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed socializing with his friends.
Recently Gary had been a resident of Valley View Manor in Lamberton MN and later transferred to Our House Hospice in Slayton, MN where he passed away on Monday July 6, 2020.
Gary is survived by his three children: Heather (Jason) Power of Redwood Valley, CA; Jonathan (Ashlee) Duerksen of Westbrook, MN; and Matthew (Juana) Soleta of Windom; his seven grandchildren: Charlie Power, Kaden, Kinley, Kaliyah and Koyer Duerksen; and Lucy and Scarlet Soleta.
Along with his family, Gary leaves behind three brothers: Steve (Tracy) Soleta of Phoenix, AZ; Tom (Jeanne) Soleta of Lubbock, TX; Paul Soleta of Windom; and two sisters: Kristine Soleta of Minnetonka, MN; and Luisa Roeder of Florence, OR.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
