A Celebration of Life Graveside Service to honor the life and legacy of Gary Volz, age 85, of Lakefield, will be held Tuesday, September 22nd at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield with full military honors.

Gary Volz passed away peacefully, on September 4th, at his daughter’s home in Hardwick, Minnesota.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Gary Gilbert Volz, who passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at the age of 85 at his daughter's home in Hardwick, Minnesota. Born on March 17, 1941, in Lakefield, MN, Gary was a proud son of the Midwest and lived his whole life close to his roots in Lakefield.

Gary was united in marriage to Renate Magdalene Bierbrauer on April 6, 1962, in Worms, Germany. This marriage was blessed with four children. Gary was a dedicated man who served his country as a Sergeant First Class in the Army, spending 21 years in service. His commitment inspired young leaders as an ROTC instructor at the Culver Academy in Indiana. Gary then continued his hardworking spirit at the Walker Muffler Plant in Culver, Indiana, where he made lasting friendships and memories. He enjoyed woodworking, leather, hunting and the great outdoors.

Gary is survived by his loving children, Andrea (David) Monson of Lakefield; Jeffrey (Sandra) Volz of Riverside, CA; Blanche Carter of Hardwick; 4 grandchildren, Taylor Kline of Indiana; Lexia Ray Volz of California; Magdalene (Ben) Hansen Lakefield; Heide (Aaron) Leinonen of Annandale; 4 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Miller; Jayden and Jordan Hansen; Vera Rea Volz; and several nieces and nephews. Gary cherished his family deeply, and they will forever hold him in their hearts.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Renate Volz in 2013; son, Andre (Marlene) Volz; and several nieces and nephews.

Rest in peace, Gary. You will be missed dearly.
