Geneva Ann Schwarting was born on March 3, 1943, in Wykoff, Minnesota to the late Emery and Marge (McNeir) Young. She was baptized in May of 1965 in Lake Park, Iowa and received her education in the Worthington Public Schools, graduating from Worthington High School in the Class of 1961. Geneva was united in marriage to Larry Schwarting on March 30, 1963, at the Methodist Church in Bigelow. After marriage, Geneva and Larry lived in several areas including, Lake Park, Iowa, Worthington, and Heron Lake before settling in Storden. Through the years, Geneva worked at Wal-Mart and at their gas station, Larry's 66 in Storden, for over twenty years before retiring. About three years ago, Geneva and Larry moved to Brewster and then most recently, to Westbrook. Recently, Geneva health began to decline and was hospitalized at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she passed away on Wednesday evening, December 16, 2020, at the age of 77 years. Geneva was a longtime, active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden where she was a member of the ladies' aid and circle, taught Sunday School and Bible School and was on the funeral serving committee. Geneva and Larry had many enjoyments in life including, traveling all over on their motorcycle, having big gardens, canning, cooking and most of all, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Geneva is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Larry Schwarting of Westbrook; two sons, Boyd (Judy) Schwarting of Grand Rapids, MI; Heath (Ronella) Schwarting of Worthington; five grandchildren, Chad, Tara Mae (Tyler), Nicholas, Cole, and Kyle (Natalie); three great-grandchildren, Klhoe, Hendrick and Everson; two brothers, Richard (Diane) Young of Oregon; Ronnie Young of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. Geneva is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lori Schwarting and one brother, Leslie Young. Blessed be the Memory of Geneva Ann Schwarting. A Celebration of Life Service for Geneva Schwarting, age 77 of Storden will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden, MN with Pastor Jennifer Bennet officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in rural Storden. After the burial, a lunch will be provided at the Storden Community Center. Geneva Schwarting passed away on December 16, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines should be followed.
