A Celebration of Life Visitation to honor the life and legacy Geraldine Carter, age 91, of Windom, will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM ~ 12:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Burial will take place at a later date in the Jeffers Cemetery in Jeffers, Minnesota.

On Friday, December 26, 2025, Geraldine Ione Carter, a loving wife, and mother passed away at the age of 91. Geraldine was born on October 31, 1934, in Dovray Township, Murray County, Minnesota to Theodore and Augusta (Bloch) Lien. Geraldine was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Dovray.

Geraldine married Curtis Harley Carter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, Minnesota, on December 7, 1951. Curtis passed away in 2020. Together they raised three children, Billy, Timmy and Kristi.

Curtis and Geraldine lived in Amboy Township, Cottonwood County before moving to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where Curtis was enlisted in the US Army. After returning to Amboy Township, Curtis and Geraldine farmed for eight years before moving to Jeffers, Minnesota, where they lived for 57 years. In 2019, Geraldine moved to Westbrook and later moved to Mikkelsen Manor in Windom, Minnesota, in November 2025.

Geraldine's spent her life as a homemaker, finding joy and purpose in caring for her family and making her home a place of warmth and love. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers, the Jeffers Senior Citizens, and the Odegaard-Quade American Legion Auxiliary, where she received her 50-year membership pin 2017.

Geraldine had many hobbies, and her favorite was coffee time with her friends. Her other hobbies included bird watching, gardening, collecting cups, saucers, and thimbles, as well as crocheting afghans that she gifted to her friends and family. In her younger days, every Sunday afternoon was spent playing cards with Curt, his mother, Ann, and Curt's sisters. Geraldine also spent many hours with Curt running the trap line.

Geraldine is survived by her three children: two sons, Billy (Kathleen) Carter and Timmy (Judy) Carter, and daughter, Kristi (Steven) Sell; seven grandchildren, Amber (Joe) Montey, Brook (Mike) Pressley, Courtney (Nathan) Abernathy, Brandon (Cheri) Carter, William (Carrie) Sell, Jacob (Lindsey) Sell and Krystle (Adam) Warnke; twelve great-grandchildren, Tucker Montey, Malita Pressley, Baya Abernathy, Curtis Carter, Carter Sell, Brockton Sell, Baylor Sell, Nolan Warnke, Landon Warnke, Reese Warnke, Ava Sell and August Sell.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis; grandson, Dustin Curtis Carter; great-grandson, Theodore William Steven Sell, in-laws, Harley and Anna Carter; five brothers, Lloyd Lien, Melvin Lien, Kenneth Lien, Clyde Burgess and Willis Burgess; and three sisters, Thelma Norstegard, Eunice Wolfe and Janet Skarset.
