Geraldine Phyllis Windschitl was born on July 5, 1932, in Mankato, Minnesota to the late Herman James and Mable (Frederick) Fitzlaff. She was baptized on April 12, 1952, in Jackson, Minnesota. Geraldine received her early education in the Jackson Public Schools and then attended Jackson High School where Geraldine graduated with the Class of 1950. Through the years, Geraldine was a certified nursing assistant at Eventide in Mt. Lake and then at St. John's in Springfield until retiring 1998 after 40 years of dedicated service. Geraldine will be remembered for always telling her family before they left "Give the kids a hug and kiss and tell them I love them". She had many enjoyments in life which included her love for reading, quilting, traveling, puzzles, camping, embroidery, fishing, hayrides, visiting with others, but most of all, she enjoyed her time spent with her family. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom where she was a past member of the quilting circle. Geraldine is survived by her seven children, Deb (Jim) Hummel of Windom; Ed (Ann) Schumann of Albert Lea; Mark (Karen) Schumann of Windom; Sarah (Don) VanMeveren of Windom; Kim (Doug) Kremmin of Windom; Ray Page of Georgia; Phyllis (Phil) Janssen of Linden, NC; one son-in-law, Pat Daly of Spirit Lake, IA; 53 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard "Dick" (Janet) Fitzlaff of Albert Lea; Lenny (Nancy) Fitzlaff of Waseca; one sister-in-law, Janis Fitzlaff of Fairmont; and many nieces and nephews. Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Schumann; one daughter, Colleen Daly; one brother, Herman "Duke" Fitzlaff; two infant brothers and one infant sister.
