A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Gisela Kuehl, age 89, of Windom, will be held Saturday, April 25th, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Amo Lutheran Church in rural Storden. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, north of Windom.

A visitation for Gisela will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the Amo Lutheran Church in rural Storden for one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations in memory of Gisela are preferred toLake Shetek Lutheran Ministries and Windom Area Health Foundation.

Gisela Sophie (Eigenberg) Kuehl was born on January 10, 1937, in Heron Lake, Minnesota, to Augusta (Toltzin) and William Eigenberg, Sr. She was baptized on February 14, 1937, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena. Gisela attended Heron Lake High School, graduating in 1954, and went on to pursue her passion for caregiving at Naeve Hospital School of Nursing in Albert Lea, where she earned her Registered Nurse degree in 1957. The three years of nurses training were hard, both physically and mentally, but she and her fellow student nurses stuck together through the good times and the bad, and she attributes that time to her development into mature adulthood. After graduating from nursing training, she worked in several areas of nursing for about 10 years, including surgery, O.B., an outpatient clinic, and an oral surgeon's office, all of which proved to be great experiences.

On August 11, 1967, Gisela was united in marriage to Kornell Kuehl at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Ann, Kristin, and Thomas. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. Kornell farmed with his father for about seven years, and then Gisela and Kornell went into the trucking business. They bought the Hog Buying Station in Storden, where they would buy and sell hogs daily and truck them to market daily. Eventually they sold the hog buying business and Kornell continued trucking, moving from livestock to refrigerated goods. They lived on various farms in Cottonwood County until 1973, when they moved to the Kuehl family farm. In 2003, she and Kornell relocated to Fulda, Minnesota, and in 2022, she moved to Remick Ridge, where she resided until her passing.

Gisela will be remembered as a loyal, humble, kind, and compassionate woman with an easygoing spirit. She found joy in life's simple pleasures—sewing, playing the piano and organ, and reading. She and Kornell shared a love of travel, especially their RV trips exploring the southwest. She enjoyed the beauty of the desert and the time she spent with Kornell as they rode the desert trails and Geocaching. In their later years they spent winters in Salome, Arizona, where they purchased a house.

Her faith was central to her life. Gisela was an active member of her church community, serving as a Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher, and member of WELCA. She also was a 4-H leader and took turns with the neighborhood parents chauffeuring kids to various events. She and Kornell also shared their creativity by making fast-track games together and playing with anyone who wanted to join them.

Gisela passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at her home in Windom.

Gisela is lovingly remembered by her children: Ann (Peter) Bartelt of Windom and their children Sophia Nelson, Taylor (Nathan) Breuer, Kaitie (Nathan) Luitjens, Sami (Zach) Wormstadt, and Marshall Bartelt; Kristin Kuehl of Minneapolis; and Thomas (Dana) Kuehl of Storden and their children, Madison, Landon, and Ian Kuehl; five great-grandchildren: Remy and Hugo Breuer; Payton and Hadley Luitjens, and Emmitt Wormstadt; sisters-in-law, Lylas Eigenberg, Carolyn Eigenberg, Marlene Smith, Janice Pitcher and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kornell; her parents, Augusta and William, Sr.; brothers, Herman Eigenberg, Herbert Eigenberg, William Eigenberg, Jr., nephew, Jerome Smith; parents in law, Dorothy and Raymond Kuehl; sister-in-law, Barb Eigenberg; brothers-in-law, Paul Smith, Kenneth Pitcher

Gisela's life was a testament to quiet strength, deep faith, and enduring love. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
