Gladys Thelma Haroldson was born on October 22, 1930 in Worth County, Iowa to the late Carl Gerhardt and Gustie Caroline (Reyerson) Odegaard. She was baptized at an early age at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church in Worth County, Iowa and was later confirmed in that same church in November of 1944. Gladys received her education in Emmons, Minnesota; graduating in the Class of 1948. On May 29, 1948, Gladys was united in marriage to Wayne Walter Haroldson at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church in Worth County, Iowa. In 1958, Gladys and Wayne moved to Windom where Gladys worked for Lloyd Oddens Jewelry, Rogers Café, Left Bank, and then as the office manager for American Family Insurance for ten years working for Harvey Pierce, Tom Holmen, Bob Flatgard and Lee Ulhorn. Gladys also babysat her grandchildren and was an accomplished seamstress having made all of her daughters prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, confirmation, graduation and other special occasion dresses. On October 14, 2008, Wayne passed away. After his death, Gladys continued to live in Windom for a short time before moving to Mankato in 2009 to be with her daughter. She later became a resident of the Keystone Senior Living Community in Mankato. On Saturday morning, October 25th, 2014, Gladys passed away at Keystone at the age of 84 years. Gladys was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom and of the Red Cross. She had many enjoyments in life which included flowers- especially red roses, playing the piano in her earlier years, making homemade bread, but most of all; she loved children-especially her grandchildren. Glady's grateful family includes her four children, Diane Carlson of Collinsville, Oklahoma; Steve Haroldson of Worthington; Susan Schmidt and husband, Gary, of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; Mary Borsgard of North Mankato; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Flesche of Albert Lea; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Glady's is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne W. Haroldson; and one son, Robert Allen Haroldson.
