Gladys M. Matzke was born on March 7, 1919 on the family farm southeast of Revere, Minnesota to the late Theodore and Emma (Johnson) Paulson. One of seven children she attended country school in rural Lamberton and was baptized and confirmed at the Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton.
On October 15, 1941, Gladys was united in marriage to Lorrane Louis Matzke at the parsonage of the Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton. This marriage was blessed with three children. Shortly after their marriage, Gladys and Lorrane began to farm in rural Lamberton until March of 1996 when they retired. On April 10, 2002, Lorrane passed away. After his death, Gladys moved into Lamberton and later moved to Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, Minnesota where she remained living until passing away on Monday morning, December 16th, 2019 at the age of 100 years.
Gladys was a longtime member of the Highwater Lutheran Church in rural Lamberton where she was active in the ladies' aid for many years. She had many enjoyments in life which included volunteering at the Valley View Manor Nursing Home in Lamberton, gardening, baking, grooming her yard, word search puzzles and games.
Gladys is survived by her two children, Ralph Matzke of Cushing, OK; daughter, Linda Matzke of Roseville; two grandchildren, Lisa Robinson and Larry Matzke; two great-grandchildren, Colby Robinson and Kurtis Matzke; two great-great-grandchildren, Chance and Athena.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lorrane Matzke; infant son, Eugene Matzke; five brothers, Clarence, Leonard, Roy, Sherman and Raymond; one sister, Grace Clark; and one infant brother, Lorence.
