A Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria Louise (Lozano) Svoboda, age 80 of Jackson, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 31st at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jackson with Father Jeffrey Dobbs officiating. Burial will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jackson.

A visitation for Gloria will be held on Thursday, January 30th from 4:30-6:30 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson with a Rosary service starting at 4:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 31st at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jackson for one hour prior to the funeral mass, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM.

Gloria Louise (Lozano) Svoboda was born on August 8, 1944, in Granada, Minnesota to the late Lupe and Florence (Hytry) Lozano. She attended country school and graduated from East Chain Public Schools. She was baptized at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Guckeen, Minnesota and was later confirmed at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain, Minnesota.

Following graduation, Gloria attended college for a short time before getting hired as the bookkeeper for Wolf Haben. She met Patrick Kielty and the two were united in marriage in 1963. This union blessed them with two children, Michael and Lori. The union was later dissolved.

Gloria then met Walter Svoboda and the two were united in marriage in 1971. This union blessed them with two daughters, Julie and Teresa. Gloria loved being a farm wife. She took care of chickens, ducks, turkeys and cattle and worked hard taking care of the farm and the animals. For many years, Gloria kept three large gardens: one for flowers, and two for vegetables. Gloria always made sure to have a warm meal on the table and various sweets to snack on throughout the day for her family. This union was later dissolved.

Gloria was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. Her "outside the home" jobs included working at Eisenmenger Motors in Sherburn as the bookkeeper, Svoboda Excavating as the bookkeeper, Ben Franklin as a salesclerk, Response Valcom- Rural Connections as a bookkeeper, Joul Drug as a clerk and pharmacy tech. She then obtained her real estate and insurance license and went to work for Town and Country Agency in Jackson and later Bull Market Realty in Jackson.

Gloria loved being a mom and spending time with children and family. She was always involved in all her children's activities from, volleyball, basketball, band and whatever else her children were involved in. She was their #1 fan. Gloria's house was the house to be at. All the children from the neighborhood would be at Gloria's house hanging out.

Gloria was an avid football fan and loved the Vikings and Gophers. Purple and Gold and Maroon and Gold ran through her veins. If Gloria couldn't watch the game, she would record them so she could watch them later. If she was in the car, the football game would be on the radio. Up until a couple years ago, Gloria would still attend the Minnesota Gophers Football Games.

Gloria was a long-time dedicated member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jackson, where she was an active member Jackson Council of Catholic Women (JCCW) for many years, Sacristan up until her health declined, and sang in the choir. She made sure her family went to church every Sunday.

She was also very active in Fort Belmont where she was the volunteer coordinator for 13 years and welcomed everyone who came through the doors with a warm and friendly smile. She was the heart and soul of Fort Belmont.

Gloria Svoboda passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson.

Gloria lived life to the fullest and will be remembered by her children, Michael (Esther) Kielty, and Teresa Svoboda; grandchildren, Morgan and Julianne. Julianne was very special to Gloria and the bond they shared was one to be cherished forever. She is also survived by her sister: Audrey (Dennis) Slater; cousin: June (Keith) Mueller; and many other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her daughters, Lori and Julie; parents, Lupe and Florence; brother, Richard; maternal grandparents, Josephine and Theodore Hytry and many other family members.

Memorials can be made in Gloria's name to Fort Belmont and the Good Shepherd Catholic Church Youth Ministry.
