Harlen Russel Fisk was born on December 3, 1936, to the late Floyd and Hazel (Senst) Fisk in Jeffers, Minnesota. He grew up and lived in the Jeffers- Sanborn area all his life. He was baptized at the Lutheran Church of Jeffers and confirmed at the Methodist Church. He attended Jeffers High School, graduating with the class of 1956. After high school, Harlen enlisted in the National Guard. In 1957, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for four years, until he was honorably discharged in 1961. On Sept 28, 1968, Harlen was united in marriage to Marilyn Axford. Throughout the years, Harlen farmed, worked road construction for Hugo Schultz at L&S Construction, and hauled gravel for 10 years with Jeffers Dray Line, Inc., until his retirement in 2017. Harlen was active in the Westbrook VFW, the Odegaard—Quade American Legion Post #401 in Jeffers, and the Jeffers Lions Club. He enjoyed building small bird houses, roller skating, bowling, horseback riding and camping. He also worked as a part-time cop. Harlen passed away on Monday, August 22nd at the Sanford Westbrook Medical Center in Westbrook, Minnesota, at the age of 85 years. Harlen is survived by his brother, Wayne (Audrey) Fisk of Jackson; niece, Dawn; nephew, Troy; several great and great-great nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, since 1976, Marlin Hamilton of Jeffers. Harlen was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Fisk; parents, Floyd and Hazel Fisk; stepdad, Ben; and a special aunt and uncle, Wilfred and Mildred Nickel. Blessed be the memory of Harlen R Fisk. A Celebration of Life Service for Harlen Fisk, age 85, of rural Sanborn, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30th, at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom, with Pastor Kathy Brandt officiating. Burial will be at the Jeffers Cemetery in Jeffers with full military honors. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Harlen Fisk passed away on August 22nd at the Sanford Westbrook Medical Center in Westbrook.
