A visitation for Harold Jacobsen, age 88, of Lakefield, will be held on Friday, February 20th from 5:00 – 7:30 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley for one hour prior to the service.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 21st, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley. The service will be livestreamed on the Trinity Lutheran Church Facebook page. Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park, Iowa.
Harold John Jacobsen was born March 21, 1937, to John W. and Velma L. (Strohman) Jacobsen on their farm in Silver Lake Township, Dickinson County, Iowa. The following year, the family moved to Sioux Valley Township, Jackson County, MN. Harold was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran church in Sioux Valley where he was a life-long member. He was a graduate of Sioux Valley High School and the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture. Harold served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
On September 11, 1960, Harold was united in marriage to Audrey Jean Bretzman at St Paul church in Delafield. They farmed south of Lakefield until moving to the home place in Sioux Valley township in 1967. In 2008 they retired and moved to Lakefield. Harold liked all aspects of aviation and owned his own plane for many years. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and later spending winters in Arizona.
Harold passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12th, 2026.
He is survived by his children: Jeffrey of Canistota, SD, Fay (Rick) Sonnenburg of Monument, CO, Kay (Bryan) Woodke of Lakefield, MN, and John of Farmington, MN; granddaughters: Brittany (Lee) Sutherland of Washington, DC and Brooklyn Sonnenburg of Monument, CO; great-grandchild Sutherland, on the way; special friend: Mary Bass of Lakefield, MN; sisters: Betty (Don) Kuelbs of Alexandra, MN, Joan Kasch of Emery, SD, Ellen (Greg) Bleck of Atkin, MN, and Elaine McDowell of Fargo, ND.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife Audrey; brothers-in-law: Raymond Kasch and James McDowell.
