Harold Ray Stammer was born on June 20,1937 to the late George and Edna (Dorsey) Stammer in Huntington, Iowa. At the age of two, Harold moved with his family from Huntington, Iowa, to rural Lakefield, Minnesota.

He began his education at the Loon Lake Country School and graduated from Lakefield High School with the class of 1956. One of his proudest moments during high school was earning All-State Honorable Mention football player in 1955. Following graduation, Harold enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Upon his return home, Harold began his lifelong career as a farmer, working with his father and later taking over Stammer Farms. Harold was baptized into the Lutheran Faith as an adult at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson, Minnesota.

He was united in marriage to Gloria Hampel on October 10, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alpha. Their union was blessed with six children, Alan, Micheal, Terry, Jay, Jan and Jon. Harold and Gloria made their life together and raised their children on the farm. Harold made regular trips to Lakefield to have coffee and conversation with friends. He enjoyed listening to the radio, especially music by Conway Twitty and George Jones. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and later grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great grandchild.

He served on the Board of Directors for the Co-op Ag Center in Lakefield for many years. Harold found strength through his faith in God, pride in his family, genuine friendships, service to his country and a farmer's way of life.

Harold passed peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday March 12, 2024, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Harold Stammer is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Gloria Stammer; children, Alan (Carri) Stammer of Jackson, Micheal and special friend Sue Reiter, of Lakefield, Terry Stammer and special friend Kari Karnes of Spirit Lake , IA, Jay ( Janet) Stammer of Lakefield, Jan (David) Maschoff of Jackson, Jon (Emily) Stammer of Lakefield; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; sister-in -law's, Carolyn Hampel and Deb Hampel; Aunt Lois Lee; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Stammer; brothers, Jim, Evertt, Clifford, Ralph and Lloyd Stammer; sisters Marion Anderson, Mickey Reiter, Evelyn Kilpatrick, and Irene Schoonover; parents -in -law, Alfred and Lydia Hampel; in-laws, Dennis Hampel and Darlene (Leonard) Jenkins, along with many nieces and nephews.

Blessed be the memory of Harold Ray Stammer

A Celebration of Life Service for Harold Stammer, age 86, of Lakefield, will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter Township with Reverend Dale Hedstrom officiating. Burial will follow the service at Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Minneota Township. Military Honors will be provided by the Lakefield VFW Post #260 and the Jackson American Legion Post #130 at the graveside.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Harold Stammer passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
