Helen Francis Metteer was born on December 24, 1947, in Joilet, Illinois to the late Curtis and Stella Luella (Swift) Drager. She received her education in the Fairmont Public Schools. After graduating, she attended Southwestern Technical College in Jackson. On February 26, 1976, Helen was united in marriage to Darnell Metteer, this marriage was later dissolved. Through the years, Helen worked as a waitress, telemarketer and at Ag-Chem as a part accountant and lived in Armstrong, Iowa, Fairmont, Trimont, Ceylon, Sherburn and then moved to Windom in 2009. Recently, Helen's health had been declining and she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge in Windom where she passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019, at the age of 71 years. Helen had many enjoyments in life which included fishing, going to the races, playing cards and her coffee. Helen is survived by her significant other, Loy Kerns of Windom; two children, Michael (Angela) Metteer of Gruver, IA; Missy Metteer of Windom; four step-children, Kathy (Matt) Wangler of Windom; Karla (Lance) Luckow of Idaho; Traci Perez of Oklahoma; Donnice Harper of Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one sister, Karen (Don Wagner) Drager of Armstrong, IA; and extended family and friends. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Darnell Metteer; daughter, Jean Ellen Metteer; and two granddaughters, Brandi Marie Metteer and Tammy Kay Metteer.
