Obituary

Helen Mews, 76, died of pneumonia on June 11, 2022, at Banner Medical Center, Ft. Collins, CO. She was born Dec. 5, 1945, to Fritz and Blondina (Dunse) Mews, in Windom, MN Helen's elementary education in grades 1-6 were at Jackson County District #67. She attended middle and high school at Windom Public School graduating in 1963. She attended Cottey College in Nevada, MO for two years, then went on to the University of Minnesota and Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. Helen was in the restaurant business for many years and worked at Duhl Rummel in Sioux Falls, SD until she retired. Helen is remembered for her great love of history and was an avid sports fan, always cheering for the Vikings, Twins & Gophers. She missed watching those teams when she moved to Ft. Collins, CO, in 2018, to be near her sister, Irene. Helen is survived by her two sisters, Irene Mews, Ft. Collins, CO and Darlene Wood, Hiawatha, IA; and sister-in-law Marie Mews, Worthington, MN. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Fritz and Blondina Mews; two brothers, Henry & Vernon Mews; sisters-in-law, Delores, Muriel and Marj Mews; brothers-in-law, Warren Twogood, John Heaton, and a stillborn brother. Services will be held July 30, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior and burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom, MN.
