Irene Doris (Caviness) Cuppy was born on June 26, 1924 to John and Sena E. (Sorenson) Caviness in Jackson, MN. She grew up with six brothers, Ralph, Jerry, Donald, Lloyd, Dale and Clifford. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School, in Spirit Lake, IA. Irene was united in marriage to Howard Reed. The marriage was blessed with two children, Daniel and Marcia. Howard passed away on December 5, 1970. She was married to Leroy Cuppy on January 7, 1975. Irene and Leroy enjoyed travelling, going to Threshing Bees and attending the Spencer Fair in Spencer, IA. Irene loved her family and enjoyed hosting family holidays and celebrating birthdays. Leroy passed away on October 16, 2006. Irene was a member of the Windom Evangelical Free Church. She was active in the White Cross women's group. Irene was a hard worker and worked manual labor much of her life. She also worked for several years at Bryan's Laundry in Spirit Lake, as a dry cleaner. Irene is survived by her one sister-in-law, Donna Caviness of Spirit Lake; and many other cherished nieces, nephews and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Howard Reed; her husband Leroy Cuppy; one son Daniel Reed; one daughter, Marcia Reed; and six brothers, Ralph, Jerry, Donald, Lloyd, Dale and Clifford Caviness.
