Irene Ann (Carlson) Hultquist, age 97, of Windom, passed away on Thursday morning, September 9, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society Sogge Memorial, in Windom. Irene Ann Hultquist was born on August 18, 1924, on her parent's farm, to the late Emil A. and Anna B. (Busch) Carlson, in rural Kinbrae, Minnesota. She spent her early years there, working on the farm and at the Seeger Store in Kinbrae. The family later moved to Tracy. On April 25, 1943, Irene was baptized and confirmed at the Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy, Minnesota. On April 27, 1943, Irene was united in marriage to C.J. Hultquist at the First Lutheran Church in Dundee. They made their home in Windom. She worked at the Skateland Roller Dome and then Fingerhut, until her retirement on June 20, 1976. Irene was a wonderful cook and cookie baker, a fabulous seamstress and a master of crochet. Her dollies, tablecloths and angels will be enjoyed for years to come. She loved decorating her home for every holiday, every room had some sort of decoration, most that she had made. She loved a great cup of coffee with a cookie or two, as well as the colors of hot pink and leopard print. Irene was a longtime, dedicated member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom where she was a Bible School teacher, Sunday School teacher (second grade was her favorite), Luther League advisor, social committee member, Ladies Circle and ALCW. In her community, she was involved as a Cub Scout, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. Irene is survived by her daughter, Linda (Dennis) Garms of Janesville; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Perala Hultquist of Pinedale, WY; four grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, Clint Hultquist of Pinedale, WY and his children, Brooke (Gabe) Commodore and Ashleigh Hultquist; Jennifer Hultquist (Eric) Griffin of Mullica Hill, NJ and their children, Zachary and Makayla; Travis (Amy) Garms of Houston, TX and their children, Charlie and Henry; Nicole Garms (Scott) Pudwell of Pewaukee, WI and their children, Joshua and Ashley; one brother, William (Marilyn) Carlson of Tracy, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Irene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, CJ Hultquist on November 28, 2001; son, Larry Edwin Hultquist on April 2, 2008; three brothers, Ernest, Ray, and Herbert Carlson; and one sister, Della Dierks. Blessed be the memory of Irene Ann Hultquist. A Celebration of Life Service for Irene Hultquist age 97, of Windom, will be held on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021, at 11 AM at American Lutheran Church in Windom, with Pastor Adam Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom. A visitation and time of gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 14th from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the church.
