Irma Helen Fast age 98, of Windom passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Mikkelsen Manor in Windom. Irma was born on June 1, 1920 in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Anna (Witrock) Eischeid. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur, Iowa. She attended and graduated from St. Augustine School in Halbur, Iowa where she grew up. On January 17, 1944, Irma was united in marriage to Peter J. Fast at Camp Atterbury, Iowa. Following completion of his Army service and receiving his honorable discharge, Irma and Peter returned to the Midwest and farmed near Halbur and Viola, Iowa for many years. In 1952, Irma and Peter came to the Bingham Lake area where they farmed and raised their family in Carson Township. In 1982, they retired and continued living on the farm site until Pete passed away on April 17, 1997. Irma then moved to an apartment in Windom to make her home and then to Mikkelsen Manor in Windom until her passing. Irma was a longtime member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom where she was involved with the WCCW, Rosary Society and afternoon guild. She enjoyed traveling, music, dancing, casinos, refinishing furniture, flowers and most of all, she enjoyed her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irma is survived by her three children, Audrey and Scott Stewart of Leesburg, FL; Linda and Dick Zehnder of Sauk Rapids; Larry and DeAnn Fast of Apple Valley; six grandchildren, Andrea Arrington, Debbie Decker, Michelle Fischer, John Zehnder, Chad Zehnder, and Jason Fast; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Schreck of Templeton, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Mary Eischeid of Spencer, IA; Irene Eischeid of Halbur, IA and many other relatives and friends. Irma is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter J. Fast; grandson, Officer Scott Stewart; four sisters, Loraine Sextro, Florence Gephart, Louise Boeckman, Tillie Busenbark; five sisters-in-law, Mary, Agnes, Tillie, Jeanette and Darlene; five brothers, Leonard, Hilbert, Theodore, Louis and Alvin Eischeid; five brothers-in-law, Frank, Cato, Cecil, John and Elmer.
