A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of James "Jim" Caraway, age 70, of Worthington, formerly of Windom, will be held on Tuesday, September 16th at 10:30 AM at The American Lutheran Church in Windom. Burial will be in Delafield Township Cemetery in rural Windom.
A visitation for Jim will be held on Tuesday, September 16th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at The American Lutheran Church in Windom.
James "Jim" Caraway was born on December 22, 1954 in Windom, Minnesota to the late Wayne and Doris Caraway. He was baptized and confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Windom, Minnesota. Jim attended Windom Area Schools and graduated in 1973.
Jim lived at home with his parents working on the farm and at the candy factory in Jackson. In 2013, he moved to Residential Advantages in Windom and began working at the Jackson County DAC. After several years, he then moved to Worthington, where he was currently living before moving in July, 2025 to Our House Hospice of Murray County in Slayton. Jim passed away peacefully at Our House Hospice of Murray County in Slayton on September 11, 2025 at the age of 70 years.
Jim loved going on car rides to check out the farmers working in the fields, looking at newspapers and magazines, and going out for coffee and ice cream.
Jim is survived by his sister, Barb (Rick) Nelson of Windom; niece, Renee (Daniel) Harley of Windom; great-nephew, Elias Harley of Windom; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Doris Caraway; niece Tiffany Nelson; and several aunts and uncles.
Our family would like to thank all the caregivers that provided care and friendship to Jim over the last 12 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim are preferred to the American Lutheran Church or Our House Hospice of Murray County.

Please join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church fellowship hall following the burial.
