A graveside service for James “Jim” M. Grunewald, age 64, of Westbrook, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 22nd at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.

James Mattox Grunewald was born on October 28, 1961, son of the late Dudley and Bernice (Horkey) Grunewald. He grew up in Bingham Lake, MN and was the third born of eight children.

Jim held several different positions in his working years, including time at Butterfield Foods, Caldwells (PM Beef, Windom) and Negen Construction. He enjoyed spending time with his uncle Larry, using skills he obtained to tinker with vehicles and appliances.

In the early hours of October 11, 2026, Jim sought medical care at Sanford Health in Westbrook. It was there that he passed on to be with the Lord just weeks before his 65th birthday.

Jim is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathy and his three stepchildren, Jen (Jason) Johnson of Quinn, SD, Jonathan (Brittany) Batzlaff of Wichita, KS, and Heather Batzlaff of Westbrook, MN; 4 grandchildren, Hunter, Hudson, Sophie and Gunnar; 2 sisters, Tammy Lenoir of Windom and Patricia (Norbert) LaDucer of Windom as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Roger Grunewald, Norman Grunewald, Curtis Grunewald and Timothy Grunewald; and sister: Pamela Grunewald.
