A Celebration of Life visitation to honor the life and legacy of James W. Nelson, age 72, of Windom, will be held Monday, October 14th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. A private family burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

James "Jim" William Nelson was born on March 19, 1952, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to the late William and Velma (Mardick) Nelson. He was baptized in Iowa Falls. When Jim was 9 years old, he and his family moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa, where he attended school.

Jim worked at Plus, Inc. in Spirit Lake, where he made rugs and sorted cans. In September 1990, Jim and his mother moved to Windom, MN. Jim worked at the Cottonwood County DAC and part-time at Hy-Vee. He retired in 2019.

Jim enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music, and playing card games. His biggest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends.

In August 2022, Jim became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society, Sogge Memorial in Windom. Jim passed away there on October 10, 2024.

Jim is survived by his brother, Rick (Barb) Nelson of Windom; niece Renee (Daniel) Harley of Windom; great-nephew, Elias Harley of Windom; and sister-in-law, Donna Nelson of Carson City, NV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Velma Nelson; brother, Donald Nelson; and niece, Tiffany Nelson.
