Obituary

James "Jim" Redding was born on July 3, 1946 in Windom, Minnesota to the late Gladden and Mary Jane (Hanson) Redding. He received his education at Windom for elementary school and at Shattuck in Faribault, Minnesota, graduating in the Class of 1964. After graduation, James attended college at the University of Minnesota where he studied finance. James joined the Navy in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972. Jim was united in marriage to Louise (Benson) Redding in Minneapolis in 1972. This marriage was later dissolved. Jim worked for Southwest State Bank (Windom State Bank) and was president of the bank from 1985 to 1999. Jim was a member of Windom Chamber of Commerce and Windom Area Development Corporation. Jim and his sister, Gene, sold the bank to Midwest Bancorporation, Inc and it later became Bank Midwest and Jim then retired. In 1985, Jim met Connie (Nelson) Redding. They were later married in Windom, where they lived for 9 years before moving to Port Charlotte, Florida making it their forever home. Recently, Jim's health had been declining and he entered hospice care in Port Charlotte, Florida and passed away there peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the age of 73 years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating and was an accomplished pilot. He flew all over the United States and to the Bahamas several times. Jim loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Connie Redding of Port Charlotte, FL; four children, Matthew (Kari) Redding of Mendota Heights; William Redding of Eden Prairie; Mark (Sarah) Nerhus of Dallas, TX; and Kirsten (Scott) Staples of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren; one sister, Gene Clark of Sioux Falls, SD; and several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, Gladden and Mary Jane Redding and brother-in-law Howard Clark.
