A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Janet Kay Fischer, age 67, of Lakefield, will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakefield, Sioux Valley Township. Burial will be in Old St. Paul Cemetery in rural Lakefield.

A visitation for Janet will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakefield for one hour prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed on the Trinity Lutheran Church You Tube page.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations in memory of Janet are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Janet Kay Fischer (Jones) was born on March 15, 1959, in Trimont, Minnesota, to LeRoy and Sharon (Harries) Jones. She was raised on the family farm in Alpha, Minnesota, where she developed a strong work ethic while helping care for dairy cows and chickens alongside her older brother, Dan, her twin sister, Judy, and her younger sister, Monica. Those early years shaped the hardworking and devoted woman she would become.

In 1986, Janet met her soulmate, Darrell Fischer, and the two were united in marriage on April 11, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and farming. They made their home in Rost Township, where they raised pigs and crops and were blessed with two sons, Dallas and Darren. Janet took great pride in caring for her family, often cooking meals for not only her loved ones but also the hired hands, and offering her help wherever it was needed on the farm. She and Darrell shared 25 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2012.

Janet was a devoted mother, but her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother. She delighted in spoiling her grandchildren with their favorite treats and treasured the simple moments spent together. She also took great pride in her work at Maynard's, where she formed many lasting friendships over the years. Janet continued to farm alongside her son Darren and was a steadfast and proud supporter of her son Dallas in his political endeavors.

Family was the heart of Janet's life, and her love for them was evident in all she did. She will be remembered for her selflessness, her strong work ethic, her kind and caring nature, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Janet passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Valley View Assisted Living in Lakefield.

Janet is lovingly remembered by her sons, Dallas (Keyu) Fischer of Chisago City, Minnesota, and Darren (Danielle) Fischer of Lakefield, Minnesota; her cherished grandchildren, Khloe Fischer, Parker Fischer, and Ian Fischer; her sisters, Judy (Randy) Roth and Monica (Steve Schrupp) Shelgren; her sister-in-law, Terri Jones; as well as her nieces, Katie Jones, Lindsey Higgins, Hilary Nordstrom, and Sophie Pine; and her nephew, Kevin Jones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darrell Fischer; her parents, LeRoy and Sharon Jones; and her brother, Dan Jones.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Valley View Assisted Living in Lakefield, Minnesota, for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Janet.
