Janet Elaine "Jan" Munning was born on January 20, 1941 in Browns Valley, Minnesota to the late Elmer and Cordula Emilie Sophie (Will) Bentson. She was baptized in February of 1941 in Browns Valley and later confirmed in April of 1955 in Young America. Jan received her early education in Young America and St. Paul before attending Mankato High School where she graduated in 1959 and continued her education in Maryland. On February 8, 1962, Jan was united in marriage to Bob Munning in Brooklyn, New York. Jan then moved to Windom where they made their home. Through the years, Jan was involved with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, was a member of a local traveling softball team for twenty-years and a room mom in school. Jan was also a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. She had many enjoyments in life which included coffee with friends, her pets and animals, woodworking and crafts, painting, collecting frogs and most of all, her family, especially her grandchildren. On Sunday, June 21st, Jan became suddenly sick and was taken to the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the age of 79 years. Jan is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Bob Munning of Windom; three children, Michael (Jolene) Munning of Mt. Lake; Cathy (John) Martinsen of Windom; Kristin (Daniel) Manee of Rolla, MO; 6 grandchildren, Jonn, Ben and Eric Munning, Amanda and Ian Martinsen, Harlan Munning; 2 great-grandchildren, Rose Munning and Sally Munning; brother, Bill (Carol) Bentson of Halstad; sister-in-law, Diane Bentson of Inver Grove Heights; and many nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Bentson; brother and sisters-in-law, Edna Haffner, Jim and Pat Munning. Blessed be the memory of Jan Munning.
