Jeanette "Peanuts" Rosetta Fischer was born to Walter and Beatrice (Janzen) Kalmbrum on April 25, 1936, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson. She began her education at Rural County School District #60 in Middletown township and proceeded to graduate from Jackson High School in 1953. After high school, Jeanette moved to Sioux Falls to work at the hospital and Northern State Power Company as a receptionist.

On January 27, 1957, Jeanette was united in marriage to Lester Fischer at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. They began their life together on the farm. Their marriage was blessed with two of children, Theresa and Lawrence. Together, they worked on the farm, taking care of and feeding livestock. She loved working outside just as much as she enjoyed baking and cooking - as long as chocolate was not involved. One of her favorite pastimes was finding treasures at any nearby garage sale that she could get to. As Jeanette's life went on, her love for animals of all kinds grew and grew, though cats had an extra special place in her heart.

In July of 2016, Lester passed away. Jeanette moved into Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake, Iowa in 2019. After enduring two unsuccessful hip surgeries, she has been reunited with Lester in her Heavenly Home, on April 7, 2023, after passing away due to complications from pneumonia.

Jeanette is survived by her children, Theresa Fischer and Lawrence Fischer; sisters, Jackie Staples, Joan (Ray) Frey, Rosemary Schultz; and Rosetta (David) Helseth; brother, Donald Kalmbrum; brother-in-law, Wayne (Janet) Fischer; along with many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; parents, Beatrice and Walter; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Mary (Thomson) Fischer; sister, Virginia Babb; brother, and Albert Kalmbrum.

A Celebration of Life Service for Jeanette Fischer, age 86, of Jackson, will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson with Riley Place officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 5:00 -7:00 PM and Friday, April 14, 2023, from 9:00-10:00 AM, at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to your local Humane Society or pet adoption center.
