A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Jerome "Jerry" Palmer, age 80, of Jackson, will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 10:30 AM, with a time of visitation and gathering from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Bergen. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #130 and VFW Post #900 both of Jackson.

The service will be livestreamed on the Our Savior's Lutheran Church Facebook page.

Jerome passed away peacefully on Saturday at Good Samaritan Sogge Memorial in Windom.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations in memory of Jerome are preferred.

Jerome Earl Palmer, age 80 and 11 months of Jackson passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7th, 2024. He was born on Jan 24, 1944, to Forrest F Palmer and Ella (Onken) Palmer and attended Lakefield Schools graduating in 1962. He worked at the M.N. Johnson grocery store until 1964 when he entered the military finishing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Jerry then spent two years in the 6th Missile Battalion in Omaha, NE and transferred to Heidelberg Germany to the 5th Army Mobile Surgical Hospital, where he was promoted to Medical Supply Sargeant, until his honorable discharge in 1967. He worked several jobs in Lakefield including running the Lakefield Dairy for 5 years. Jerry retired in February 2006, after 32 years at the Jackson County Highway Department. He met Ardith (Wing) while working at the Jackson County Highway Department and were married May 14, 1976, at Little Brown Church.

Jerry was a member of the Jackson City Council from 2000 – 2010. He was also an active Ducks Unlimited volunteer and a member of the Jackson Gun Club.

Jerry enjoyed vacations with Ardy and fishing trips up north with family. Hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, training and loving his dogs, a good cup of coffee with friends, and crafting beautiful filet knives were among his favorite things to do. Watching the sunrise and chasing ducks on Skunk Lake in Sioux Valley was one of his favorite places to be.

Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Ardy; daughters, Sharon (Steve) Kaare of Eden Prairie, MN, Lisa (Glen) Hoffman of New Ulm, MN, Debbie (Tim) Nelson of New Ulm, MN; son, Brian Nyborg of Jackson, MN, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Ella; brothers, Orval, Vern, Loren and his brother-in-law, Dr Elton Wing.
