Jerry Wayne Thompson was born on March 19, 1937, near Storden, Minnesota to the late Gerald Leslie and Thelma Eileen (Morphew) Thompson. He received his education in Storden public schools, graduating in the Class of 1955. Jerry enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served his country honorably until being discharged and returning to the Storden area. Jerry was united in marriage to Elaine Stevens. The marriage was blessed with three children, Scott, Kathy and Jeff. Their marriage was later dissolved. On January 2, 1993, Jerry was united in marriage to DeAnne Firman at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden. They made their home in rural Storden. For fifty-seven years, Jerry farmed in rural Storden until his retirement in 2007. Jerry was a longtime, dedicated member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden. He also was a member of the Herbert-Reese American Legion Post #391 in Storden, the Westbrook VFW Post, the Masons and Shriners. He enjoyed rodeos and time spent with his family and many friends. Jerry is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, DeAnne Thompson of Storden; five children, Scott Thompson of Storden; Kathy Carey of Inola, OK; Jeff (Kari) Stevens of Vinemont, AL; DeAnne (Frank) Warnekros of Savannah, GA; Richard (Barb) Firman of Lewisville, TX; three grandchildren, Kalea, Bostyn and Justin; many great-grandchildren; three siblings, Dennis (Kathy) Thompson of Rapid City, SD; Cindy Hanke of New Smyrna Beach, FL; Gloria Thompson of Marshall; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Thompson; one daughter, Deborah Tonsgard; two sisters, Janet and Linda Thompson.
