John Omer Coons, of Dayton, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord on June 7, 2020. John was born March 23, 1942, in Lebanon, Indiana. He was raised in El Frieda, Arizona and Brownsburg, Indiana, where he graduated from high school. He attended Cedarville College, where he met his future wife, Diana Hunter. They were married on June 15, 1962 and had four children. He graduated from Omaha Baptist Bible College in 1964. He was a loving husband, father, and pastor. He served as a full-time pastor for 40 years in Iowa, Minnesota, and Kansas. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce (Kent) Cupp, parents, Eldon and Esther Coons, his son, Timothy (Priscilla) Coons. He is survived by his beloved wife Diana, three of his children, Becky (Gary) Goodwin, Mary (Bob) Turner, and Tom (Elizabeth) Coons; his sister, Eldonna Hendershot; his eight grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and many loving nieces and nephews.
