Joseph D. Wenzel, Jr., 91, of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Sanford Worthington Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Visitation, with family present, will be on Thursday, March 14th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson. A graveside ceremony will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Jackson on Friday, March 15th, at 11:00 AM. Following the burial, there will be a gathering for lunch and fellowship at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center at 11:30 AM.
Joe was born on April 22, 1932, in Jackson, Minnesota, to Joseph Sr. and Elizabeth (Hinkel) Wenzel. After attending Jackson High School, he served in the United States Army, finishing his military career in 1952 as a Sergeant. On March 15. 1958, Joe married the love of his life, lla Kielblock, at the parish house of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Jackson. During their marriage, they were blessed with two sons.
Joe was a farmer and raised cattle for over 75 years. Joe enjoyed old western films, sports, fishing, traveling, and going to coffee early in the morning. Most importantly, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, as well as spending time with friends and family.
Joe is survived by his sons, Wade and Neil; grandchildren, Camryn, Georgianna, Wyatt, Kylee, and Mercedes; brothers, Raymond and William; and sisters, Betty and Joan.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ila; parents; and brother, Mark.
Although he will be missed, his family is greatly comforted with the knowledge that he has been reunited with his true love.
