Joyce Ann
Groshens
Nov 22, 1937 — Mar 9, 2024
Joyce Ann Groshens Passed away peacefully of natural causes March 9,2024 at Good Samaritan Society in Battle Lake, MN where she resided for the past 3 ½ years.
Joyce was born to Harold and Emma (McIiwraith) Laffey November 22, 1937, at their home in rural Dolliver, IA. She was the oldest of three siblings. Throughout her years in school, she enjoyed participating in plays and playing basketball. She graduated from Dolliver High School in 1956. After graduation she worked for PG Grays Chicken factory and was also a telephone operator both located in Estherville, IA.
She then met the love of her life Lloyd Groshens. They joined in marriage on January 4, 1959, in Dolliver, IA. After living in Estherville for several years they moved to the family Groshens farm in rural Jackson, MN. Lloyd and Joyce wasted no time in starting their family. They were blessed with four children, Diana, Linda, Robert, and David, in which Joyce was able to be a stay-at-home mom for many of their young years growing up. Later she worked at Blum's Candy, Red Owl, and the Jackson Hospital until her retirement in 2006. Lloyd passed away May 13, 2019, after they had been married for 60 years.
Through the years she enjoyed the many camping trips with friends and family, being an active member of the Middle Town ladies Club where she loved socializing and playing cards. She was a great cook and always supplied the many pies for the holiday gatherings. Joyce enjoyed traveling with Lloyd, gardening, tending to her flower beds, working outside, and visiting their kids and grandkids. Joyce didn't take much time for herself, she always found ways to keep busy whether it was caring for her family or caring for others. She was a wonderful Mother and will be missed by many.
Left to cherish her loving memories are her four children, Diana (Steven) Williams of Jackson, MN, Linda (Craig) Nine of Battle Lake, MN, Robert (Drenda) Groshens of Sioux Falls, SD, and David (Susan) Groshens of Ruthven, IA. She is survived by 9 grandchildren, Crystal (Jesse) Sillman, Travis (Alma) Thies, Chase Thies, Michael (Ana) Thies, Christian (Kyle) Oldham, Joseph Nine, Tanner (Courtney) Groshens, Alyssa (Tyler) Enderson, and Hannah (Trevin) Enderson; 29 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
