Joyce Lavone
Rossow
Jul 17, 1926 — Jan 10, 2024
Joyce LaVone Rossow was born to Chester and Alice Marie (Rank) Fawcett on July 17, 1926, in Windom, Minnesota. She was baptized at the Church of Good Shepherd in Windom on September 11, 1927, and later confirmed in 1939. She attended public school and graduated from Jackson High School. After graduation, she continued her education in accounting with the State of Minnesota. She worked as an accountant for Jackson County Human Services, Colonial Manor in Lakefield and various elevators in southwestern Minnesota.
On June 28, 1947, Joyce was united in marriage to Sheldon Lundgren at the Church of Good Shepherd. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Carol, Lois, and Mary Jo. After the dissolution of the marriage, Joyce married Victor Rossow at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Their family instantly grew as she gained two stepdaughters, Beth and Sunny. Joyce's family meant the world to her, they were her whole life. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was a travel enthusiast and birdwatcher. She would spend hours crocheting. She loved playing cards and her family learned that a card laid is a card played. She never let anyone win. She thought it was important for her family to learn to lose gracefully.
Joyce Rossow passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Ecumen Pathstone Living in Mankato, Minnesota, at the age of 97.
Joyce is survived by her children, Carol Welp of Kasota, MN, Lois (Gary) Jochims of Lakefield, and Mary Jo (Bob) Pauling of Lakefield; stepdaughters, Beth (Roger) Carlson of Lakefield, and Sunny Ross; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, James Fawcett and Cecil (Jan) Fawcett; sisters, Betty Ann Purrington and Irene Engesether; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sheldon; second husband, Victor; parents, Chester and Alice Marie Fawcett; brother, Jay Fawcett; and brothers-in-law, Robert Engesether and John Purrington; sister-in-law, Ione Fawcett and son-in-law, Steve Welp.
