A Celebration of Life service to honor the life and legacy of Judy Johnson, age 80, of Heron Lake, will be held at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom on Tuesday, March 25th at 2:00 PM, with a time of visitation and gathering for one hour prior, from 1:00-2:00 PM. A private family burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Redwood Falls.

Judy Johnson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19th at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield.

Judy Ann (Scott) Johnson was born at home on the farm in Clifton Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, on November 19, 1944, to the late Clarence and Laura Ellen (Phillippe) Scott. She grew up on the farm in a large family, one of nine children. She graduated from Lynd High School and chose the life of a homemaker to raise her children and keep her home.

On May 19, 1973, Judy was united in marriage to Gary Lee Johnson in Hawley, Minnesota. The couple lived for a time in Fargo with Judy's children, Jackie, Ron, and they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Kimberly. The family later moved to Windom where the kids attended school, and after the kids were grown, Judy and Gary moved to Heron Lake in 2007. As a homemaker, Judy kept a clean home, she enjoyed cooking meals, and she especially loved hosting her family for big holiday meals. Judy enjoyed baking treats and spent time reading recipe books to find recipes that she would enjoy. The family reminisces about Judy's love for grocery shopping and how she could spend three hours at the grocery store picking out the perfect produce and browsing food labels. She loved going to garage sales and thrifting, and Judy had a remarkable collection of knick-knacks and trinkets, and she especially loved those that were musical or made sounds.

Over the years, Judy and Gary took many trips to U.S. national and state parks, such as Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park, and they enjoyed vacations to Colorado and Las Vegas. Judy took every opportunity to play cards with her siblings.

Judy's health began declining, and in January, she was admitted to Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield. On March 19th, Judy passed away peacefully under hospice care at Colonial Manor Nursing Home.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Gary Lee Johnson, daughter, Kim (Kyle) Pillatzki, eight grandchildren, Gage, Garrett, Grant, Kennady, Holly, Josh, Landon and Jaade; two great-grandchildren, Levi and Kati Anne; and she will be remembered by her extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jackie Weinburg; son, Ron Schilman; parents, Clarence and Laura Scott; four brothers; four sisters; and her parents-in-law, Marvin and Opal Johnson.

Blessed be her memory.
