June R.
Richardson
Jun 22, 1931 — Dec 19, 2022
June Rose Richardson was born on the family farm, 3 miles west of Windom, to Orvin and Erna Christensen on June 22, 1931. She was the middle child of nine and enjoyed her family roots and time on the farm. She attended String Lakes country school 1st-8th grade and Windom High School, proud to graduate in the class of 1949.
She started working while in high school, and her first job was at the National Tea Store. She later worked at Schwalbach Hardware, Fingerhut, Toro, and as a cook at Sogge Home and Cozy Café/Mom's Kitchen. Her most treasured time was as a homemaker.
June married Bill Refsland. The marriage was later dissolved.
June felt very blessed to have raised 4 daughters, Diane, Karen, Gayle and Wanda, living on farms in Springfield Township until 1967 and moved to Windom as a single mom.
On October 13, 1984, she married Chet Richardson and that brought more family, his three children, Ken, Donnie, and Kathy. They did some traveling and lived in Alexandria, MN for 4 1/2 years before returning to Windom.
June did lots of sewing for her girls, including school, prom and wedding dresses. Having 3 weddings and 2 graduations in 13 months kept her quite busy. She was a devoted mother, always willing to help others and truly enjoyed the grandchildren. Her girls could always depend on her for a sitter, but she said she was "sharing their life" not babysitting. June enjoyed baking and making lefse. She also crocheted, knitted, stitched, wrote poetry, and collected things, Peanut characters, especially Snoopy.
June was a member of the American Lutheran Church, taking part in the sewing days and making lefse for the Holiday Fair. In the past, she had been a member of Rebekah Lodge #140, American Legion Auxiliary, Grey Ladies, and Red Hatters.
On Monday, December 19, 2022, June passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, at the age of 91 years.
June is survived by Diane (Dennis) Daniels of Hutchinson, MN, Karen J. Kremmin of Mt. Lake, MN, Gayle (Clark) Kipfer of Milford, IA, Wanda (Bob) Lange of Glenwood, MN, Ken Richardson of Maplewood, MN, Kathy Forbrook of Backus, MN; grandchildren, Nichole, Lyschel, Wade, William II, Tiffany, Jenn, Brannon, Tina, Angela; 25 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Wilkin of Mt.
