A Mass of Christian Burial service to honor the life and legacy of Kami Svoboda age 51 of Lakefield, will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 AM, with a time of visitation and gathering from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Lakefield.

Kami Svoboda passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at her home in Lakefield.

Kami Lea (Turben) Svoboda was born to Charles and Rachel (McGarry) Turben on April 15, 1973, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended and graduated from Winona Senior High School in the Class of 1991.

Kami met the love of her life, and future husband Doyle Svoboda through mutual friends, and were united in marriage in 1998. This union was blessed with one child, Dylan. Kami was also a stepmother to Dustin Svoboda. She was always a loving mother to both boys.

Kami grew up in a military family, living in several places in the United States, and even Germany for a while. After her marriage, she worked at the Heron Lake Nursing home. She also worked as a secretary for Lakes Regional Health Care and Hospice for Avera. Kami also had a degree in massage therapy from Minnesota West. She also always enjoyed the family vacations, and living at Loon Lake during the summer.

Kami is survived by her husband of 26 years, Doyle; two sons: Dylan Svoboda of Lakefield, Dustin (Aby) Svoboda of Jackson; one granddaughter, Everly Svoboda of Jackson, and her parents: Charles and Rachel of Winona. She is preceded in death by many beloved family members.

Thank you to all the hospital and hospice staff for their loving care during her six-year battle with cancer.
