Karen A. Christensen was born on November 30, 1946, to Carl J. and Martha E. (Natterstad) Johnson. She was baptized in Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden, and later confirmed at the same church in Storden. She graduated from Storden Public in May of 1964. Karen was united in marriage to Paul Schultz. This marriage was blessed with one son, Shane. This marriage was later dissolved. On May 10, 1986, she married Philip (Beetle) Christensen, until he entered eternal life on January 20, 2014. Throughout her life, Karen worked as an assembler at Toro for 17 years. She worked for the Daily Globe in Worthington for 5 years delivering papers. She answered phones for Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home for 12 years and for LaCanne Family Funeral Service for 2 years. She also had many other part-time jobs throughout the area over her lifetime. Karen was a current member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. In her earlier years, she was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden, where she played the piano for Sunday School and Luther League. She enjoyed spending time with her family, which also included her fur babies, which were very important to her. She also loved wearing cat jewelry. Karen loved flowers and she enjoyed doing yardwork until her health declined. Karen was a breast cancer survivor since 1995. On Tuesday evening, January 1, 2019, Karen passed away at the Windom Area Hospital at the age of 72 years. She is survived by her son, Shane (Skeeter) Schultz of Windom; one grand-daughter, Nicole Lynn Schultz of Grand Rapids, MI; special cousin, Deanna (Jerry) Thompson of Storden; special niece, Lisa (Terry) Pohlman of Johnston, IA; two brothers, Marlin Johnson of Marshall and Richard Larson of Watson; one sister; Joanne Caswell of Lake Wood, CO; sister-in-law, Pat (Roger) Christensen of Farmington; and several nieces, nephews, and fur babies. Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Philip (Beetle) Christensen; parents, Carl and Martha Johnson; brother-in-law Arlan (Chris) Christensen; and several fur babies.
