Obituary

Karen Jeanette Voss was born on November 21, 1953, in Jackson, Minnesota to the late Kenneth Stanley and Betty Jeanette (Willett) Webster. She was baptized on December 20, 1953, at the Salem Lutheran Church and later confirmed on April 7, 1968, in that same church. Karen received her education in the Jackson Public Schools, graduating from Jackson High School in the Class of 1971. Karen then furthered her education at Augustana and SDSU where she received her degree in economics.

On June 24, 1977, Karen was united in marriage to Bennett Lee Voss at the Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson. After marriage, Karen and Ben made their home in rural Jackson and were blessed with two children, Nathan and Gretchen. Through the years, Karen was a bookkeeper for numerous sale barns, including Jackson Livestock. She also cooked and catered for many businesses and organizations with her favorite place to cook was for the Jackson Lions Club. In 2007, she retired due to her MS.

On Wednesday evening, November 16, 2022, Karen passed away at her home in rural Jackson with her family at her bedside at the age of 68 years.

Karen taught Sunday School in her earlier years along with helping with 4-H while her children were in school. She had many enjoyments in life which included needlepoint and crochet, bowling, flower gardening, bird watching and love for all animals. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Karen is survived by husband of 45 years, Bennett Voss of Jackson; her two children, Nathan Voss of Jackson, and Gretchen (Andrew) Aarbo of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Abigail and Ava Aarbo; one brother and one sister, Wayne (Becky) Webster of Zumbrota, and Kay (Larye) Lusk of Kennewick, WA; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bernard (Linda) Voss of Spirit Lake, IA, Bernell (Cheryl) Voss of Jackson, John, Jr. (Karla) Voss of Lakefield, Barb (Mark) Spaeth of Jackson, Becky (Wayne) Webster of Zumbrota, Bonnie (Roger) Puck of Sioux Valley, Bette (Brett) Harmening of Jackson, and Jerry Voss of Sibley, IA; mother-in-law, Donna Voss of Lakefield; and many nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, John Voss; and sister-in-law, Brenda Voss.

Memorials preferred to either the Jackson Lions Club, Jackson Fire Department, or The MS Society.

A Private Celebration of Life Service for Karen Voss, age 68, of rural Jackson, will be held at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center on December 1, 2022, with Pastor Terry Finnern officiating.

Karen passed away peacefully with her family by her bedside on Wednesday, November 16th at her home in rural Jackson.
