Kathryn Lynn Hoffman was born on October 8, 1948 to Willie and Nora (Hanson) Kalash in Windom, Minnesota. She was baptized and later confirmed at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. She received her education from Windom Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1966. Kathryn met Richard Hoffman while attending high school and they both went on to attend Mankato State University, where she graduated in 1971 with a degree in elementary education.
After college, Richard and Kathryn lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota where she was an elementary art and music teacher. Kathryn and Richard were united in marriage on November 16, 1973 in Windom. In 1974, Kathryn and Richard moved back to Windom and Kathryn worked at Ann's Shop and was a homemaker. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Lisa and Jennifer.
Kathryn was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. She was a kind and fun-loving person who always had a project in the works. She enjoyed anything to do with interior design and decorating, cooking, baking, watching her favorite TV shows, boating at the lake, music and concerts, shopping, and most of all spending time with her family.
Kathryn became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook in June of 2016 and lived there until passing away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the age of 68 due to ALS.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Richard L. Hoffman of Windom; two daughters, Lisa Hoffman of Mankato and Jennifer (Ryan) Elston of Windom; two grandsons, Joseph and Calvin Elston of Windom; one brother, Gary (Beth) Kalash of Windom; brother-in-law Jon (Sharon) Hoffman of Edina; nieces Jessica Ludewig and Pamela Martens; nephew Peter Hoffman; and many friends, cousins, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Nora Kalash; and her nephew Matthew Kalash.
