Kenneth Frank Janovsky was born on January 29, 1952, in St. James, Minnesota, to John and Bernadette "Bunny" (Kizer) Janovsky. He was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. James Catholic Church. Ken grew up in St. James, where he attended school and graduated from St. James High School with the Class of 1970. He furthered his education at South Central Mankato, earning a two-year degree.

After finishing his schooling, Ken moved to Windom, Minnesota. For over 42 dedicated years, Ken worked as a Project Planning Supervisor for the Minnesota Department of Transportation (DOT). Ken truly loved his job, and following his retirement, he proudly spent an additional five years acting as a mentor for the DOT. Due to health reasons, he later fully transitioned into his retirement years in Windom.

Ken was a man of steady dedication, loyalty, and honesty. He possessed a very special, unmistakable sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He was an avid sports enthusiast who loved watching hockey, football, and golf. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, shooting pool in the local Pool League, and participating in his NASCAR fantasy league.

Nothing brought Ken greater fulfillment than his family. Though he did not have biological children, Ken always proudly said, "I did not have children, but I have 7 kids that call me grandpa." He completely cherished his role as a grandpa and was a deeply loving partner and grandfather.

On Thursday, May 14, 2026, Ken was called home, passing away peacefully at the age of 74 years.

Ken is lovingly remembered by his partner, Tami Anderson of Windom; three stepchildren, Heather (Jason) Power of Windom, Jon (Ashlee) Duerksen, and Matt (Juana) Soleta; seven grandchildren, Charlie Power, Kaden, Kinley, Kaliyah, and Koyer Duerksen, Lucy, and Scarlet Soleta; and his cherished dog, Roadie.

He is also survived by his siblings, brother Gary (Vicki) Janovsky, sister Mary (Joe) Cornelius, and brother David (Sandy Ilig) Janovsky; his step-mother-in-law, Mary Ann Anderson; step-brothers-in-law and step-sisters-in-law, Linda (Wayne) Chaussee, Michael (Lois) Anderson, and Susan (Tom) Anderson; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, The Watson Family of St. James.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernadette "Bunny" Janovsky.
