A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Ken Derickson, of Windom, will be held Thursday, October 30th at 11:00 AM at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Windom.
A visitation for Ken will be held on Wednesday, October 29th at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the American Lutheran Church in Windom for one hour prior to the service.
Ken Derickson passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26th at his home in Windom.
Kenneth James "Ken" Derickson was born on January 21, 1952, in Windom, Minnesota, to the late Arnold and Arlene (Balfany) Derickson. Ken graduated from Windom High School in the class of 1970.
On September 9, 1972, Ken was united in marriage to Judy Anderson at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. The couple was blessed with four children, Justin, Jeanine, Benjamin and Marcus, and the family grew with the addition of spouses, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Ken earned a Master Boilers License as part of his 35-year employment as the Maintenance Director with the Good Samaritan Society- Sogge Memorial.
As a longtime member of the American Lutheran Church, Ken was a Sunday School teacher. He was a member and former president, of the Jaycees. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, card club and had a significant love for woodworking and construction. More than anything else, Ken loved being surrounded by his family and grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his loving family, including his children, Justin (Kathy Jo) Derickson of Grand Rapids, Jeanine (Richard) McDonald of Lake Crystal, Benjamin (Barb) Derickson of Windom, and Marcus (Jennifer) Derickson of Rosemount; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; siblings, Minerva Timmons, Merle (Gayle) Derickson, Janel (Gary) Ewert, Eileen Derickson (Vern Dauer), Christine (Tim) Nichols, David (Jody) Derickson; in-laws, John Anderson, Karen Anderson and Bob Barrie; as well as other relatives and dear friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Derickson; parents, Arnold & Arlene Derickson; brother, Arvin Derickson; brother-in-law, Rick Will; parents-in-law, Delbert and Ruth Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joan Anderson, Wayne Cassens, Connie Barrie, Sandy Cassens, and Keith Anderson.
