Kenneth (Ken) Jay Fast was born December 30, 1950 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota the oldest of six children to Harry and Alice (Stoesz) Fast and was promoted to heaven on April 9, 2020 after a short battle against stomach cancer. He was dedicated as an infant and baptized as a teenager at the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church of Mountain Lake. He was a man of strong Christian faith and had Psalm 27:1 tattooed on his arm to bare witness. In recent years he worshipped at The Gathering in Bingham Lake. Ken attended the two-room schoolhouse in Delft, Minnesota starting kindergarten at age 4 through the sixth grade. He then attended middle and high school in Butterfield, Minnesota where he graduated in 1968. He took courses to be a math teacher and played football at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa. He held many job titles and nicknames (Farmer, Red, Big Ken, PR) throughout his life. He was always a farmer at heart. He was a semi-truck driver for local farmers hauling bulk milk in cans, for his uncles at Stoesz Trucking, and over the road across the U.S. Ken was ever the salesman selling livestock feed, cars, and agriculture equipment before retiring in 2017 at age 67. Ken married Jean Marie (Crow) on August 12, 1978. They were blessed with son, Adam and daughter, Emily. He was a loving husband, caring father, and wonderful grandpa. Ken was a 38-year member of the Chordhustler Barbershop chorus. There was not a pie and rarely a person that he did not like. He volunteered for many organizations in the community. In retirement, Ken enjoyed summer tractorcade rides in Southwest Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, Tuesday night motorcycle supper rides, winters in Arizona, being grandpa daycare, coffee with the guys at Cenex, and walking on the treadmill at the gym but his favorite was relaxing in his recliner. Ken is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean; son, Adam (Jill) Fast of Litchfield; daughter, Emily (Philip) Cenzano of Windom; five grandchildren: Rece and Dela Fast, Keegan, Ryker, and Liberty Cenzano; siblings, Myron (Dawn) Fast of Mountain Lake, and Diane (John) Crawford of Spring Hill, TN; special sister Amy Jo Larson of Windom; three sisters-in-law, Marcia Fast of Mountain Lake, Sheli Fast of Windom, and Ann (John) Hovdenes of Rapid City, S.D.; two brothers-in-law, Greg (Lori) Crow of Windom and Rick (Leah) Crow of Walker; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and many best friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Alice Fast; brothers, Randy, Eugene, and Dale Fast; brother-in-law Brad Crow; father-in-law Willis Crow; mother-in-law Patricia Tepley; great nephews Lucas Fast and Gabriel Crow.
