Kenneth "Ken" Winker, was born on December 20, 1936 in Carroll, Iowa to Lawrence E. and Regina J. (Booth) Winker. He was baptized in Mt. Carmel, Iowa and later confirmed at St. John's Catholic Church in Arcadia, Iowa in 1950. Ken grew up in Mt. Carmel and Arcadia. He received his education at St. John's in Arcadia, Iowa. On April 19, 1958 Ken was united in marriage to Roselyn Catherine Leiting at St. John's Catholic Church in Arcadia, Iowa. Ken and Rose lived in Arcadia until 1966 when they moved to a farm south of Mountain Lake, MN. Twenty one years later they moved into town. In 1995, they moved to Windom where they resided until Ken passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019, at the age of 82. In his early years, Ken was self-employed and worked on the milk route. In 1966 when he moved to Mountain Lake, he began a farming operation and drove truck, until retiring in 1995, when he moved to Windom. An important part of Ken's life was his career, which allowed him to travel throughout the United States. Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island are the only four states through which Ken has not visited throughout his years of truck driving. His favorite places to travel to were Montana, Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park. Ken also worked as a security officer for special events and was a Kimball Township Supervisor. Ken loved watching sports, riding horses, and riding motorcycles. He was a devoted, humorous, and confident man who worked hard to succeed and provide a stable, happy life for his family. He had a very strong work ethic which he instilled in all his children. Above all, Ken loved his wife, Rose. Ken is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose; seven children, Rita (Tim) Hacker of Windom; Marcia (Terry) Libra of Windom; Judy Sandbo of Sioux Falls, SD; Roger Winker of Windom; David (Judy) Winker of Evansville, WI; Diane (Paul) Schroeder of Eldorado, WI; Teresa (Robert) Meuser of Burnsville; four siblings, Alice Kramer of Council Bluffs, IA; Shirley (Ron) Leiting of Carroll, IA; Pat (Vern) Berg of Kansas City, MO; Virginia (Leroy) Schultes of Templeton, IA; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Regina Winker; grandson, Eric Boone Hacker; siblings, Berdell "Bud" Winker, Louise Heinrichs and Marlene Roling.
