Kenneth "Mike" William Meyer was born on July 13, 1941, in Flandreau, South Dakota to the late Marvin and Naomi (Tinkey) Meyer. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Volga, South Dakota. Mike grew up in the Volga area; graduating from Volga High School in 1960. In June of 1961, Mike was united in marriage to Evelyn Nissen in Pipestone. They were blessed with three daughters and one son-Carolyn (Jim) Sina of St. Louis Park; Pamela (Mark) Thomas of Jenks, OK; Kathy (Craig) Purrington of Windom and Dan Meyer of Windom. This marriage was later dissolved. In 1990 Mike was united in marriage to Gertrude Holmes and was blessed with four stepdaughters, Brenda (Mark) Schenk of Windom; Sandra (John) Madsen of Waseca; Linda (Randy) Loewen of Windom and Rhonda Fowler of Jackson. Mike was a meat cutter for various establishments for ten years and then he purchased a garbage disposal company which he operated for fourteen years. Mike also did carpentry work for ten years. He then began delivering medical oxygen to patients until he was forced to retire because of medical problems. Mike and Gert owned and operated Just 4-U Auctions for eight- and one-half years until selling the business. Mike also was a member of the National Guards for twenty-two- and one-half years and an avid fireman for the same amount of time. He enjoyed cards, reading, camping, auction sales and spending time with family. Mike is survived by his three daughters and one son; four stepdaughters; six grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly (Ted) Borstad of Fort Collins, CO; one brother, Thomas (Bev) Meyer of Frederick, Maryland; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertrude Meyer and one step-great-granddaughter, Stormy Rodriguez.
